Dear Friends,

 We will begin Lent tomorrow, Ash Wednesday. I am sending you my input for the first Sunday of Lent and the week following it for the Couple Prayer and the Newsletter insert for those who use it that way.

 Lent is a challenging time for all of us but we can easily miss the point of it and of the challenge. It is mostly about growing in our love for God and for one another so that we can become ever more fully followers of Christ. On this first Sunday we are put in touch with the temptations that Christ had to face in relation to his call and mission. They are the same ones that we, as individuals and as the Church, have to face also in our call and vocation. I hope you will find this helpful for yourselves in the week ahead.

 You will be in my prayers each day. Please keep me and one another in your prayers. May God be with you to bless you and all your loved ones with joy and peace.

Hej allihopa,

Idag hörde jag P. Michael Couts säga: The Liturgy describes Lent as the joyful season of life.  We as Christians should not have a face that looks as if we have come back from a funeral. Liturgin beskriver Fastan som en tid av glädje. Vi Kristna borde inte ha ett ansikte som ser ut som vi har varit på en begravning.

Fr. Johnny skriver bland annat:  The only power we should exercise as followers of Christ is the power of love through which we forget ourselves, die to ourselves, so that others may have life. Den enda makten vi borde utöva som Jesus följeslagare är kärlekens makt genom vilken vi glömmer oss själva, dör till oss själva, så att andra må ha liv. Resten finns i brevet.

During this season of conversion, let us renew our faith, draw from the “living water” of hope, and receive with open hearts the love of God, who makes us brothers and sisters in Christ.  Under Fastan låt oss förnya vår tro, dra från det levande vattnet av hopp och ta emot med öppna hjärtan  kärleken från Gud, som gör oss till bröder och systrar i Kristus.
